STOP THE FASHION PRESSES! Big news. HUGE. Are you holding onto the lapels of your leather jacket and/or clutching the sides of your computer machine as you focus your gaze upon these words? Do so, because hyperventilation or hallucinative vapors may result in reaction to this oh-so glorious news. Vogue Daily just announced that the most exclusive fashion party of the year, namely the Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (aka the Met Gala) will be streaming all of the glitz and glamour that is their red carpet LIVE. Taking place on Monday, May 7, from 6:30 to 8:30, hosts Elettra Wiedeman and Vogue's William Norwich will interview this year's gala chairs—like newlywed Carey Mulligan and honored designer Miuccia Prada—along with what's sure to be an exhaustive bevy of celeb beauties from Rihanna to Kanye. (Remember when we crowned him Prom King last year? Will he show up with Prom Queen Kim K this year? Zut alors!) We have a few questions, though; most specifically, WHY ISN'T ANDRE LEON TALLEY DOING THE RED CARPET COVERAGE?!
As you might remember, the caped don of fashion put himself on Vogue's Met Gala Best Dressed List last year causing many an eyebrow raise for his choice of a voluminous Balenciaga cape. But we love his enthusiasm, self-confidence, and prolific use of the word "framboise" to describe what one might usually call bright red. Quite frankly, the man is LEGEND. And HIGHLARIOUS. Annnnnd why isn't this stately gentleman of bon mot magnificence not slated to clutch a diamond-encrusted microphone while dissecting brilliantine McQueen masterpieces or complete and utter style bombs that belong in the bazonkers bananas category? (We're hat tipping your way, oh oddly Chanel necktied Freida Pinto.) It doesn't make sense! While we assume model/actress Elettra Wiedemann will, undoubtedly, look lovely and hold herself well, we're confused as to why William Norwich was chosen over Talley. Guess we'll have to tune in to see! In the meantime, we'll be anticipating what the style stahhhhhs will be wearing… and keeping our fingers crossed that Nicki Minaj will be there to shake things UP.
